Rover

A lighting project

The brief for this project was to create a lighting object that focused on the foundational properties of point, line, and plane. I wanted to focus on interrupting the diffusion of light and conquering the difficult attempt to make the piece appealing even if the light source is off. A lamp creates a sense of warmth when the bulb is lit, but with this lamp I wanted it to feel like the bulb was enclosed in a space where the light is being influenced and trapped by its eerie surroundings. The end result was “Rover,” and this table lamp was constructed using a medium-density fiberboard substrate, laser-cut aluminum, acrylic panels, silicone feet, and stainless steel fasteners.  This process reiterated the importance surrounding attention to detail, due to wiring, assembly, and overall measurements for construction.
